November 2006: 500 ml brown bottle, Vinmonopolet. Batch #46. Bottle conditioned. Dark brown colour. Huge and creamy long-lasting tan head. Pleasant aroma of roast malts, dried fruits, mild coffee and chocolate. Flavour has also plenty of roast malts, moderately sweet, with coffee and dark bitter chocolate in the long aftertaste. Good beer, but Nissefar is even better.

Bottle. Pours an enormous head. Dark red brown color, off-white head. licorice and cinnamon in the aroma. Sweet flavor with licorice and hints of plums. The licorice dominates and spoils the balance of this beer somewhat.

Haandbryggeriet Nise Mor Juleøl 6% A dark Scandinavian Christmas beer, sure I’ll give that a go. Inky black thin tan head and a caramel, figs, chocolate and treacle aroma. Medium bodied dry and it has a cocoa powder and toasty chocolate. Quite dry and not at all the spicy darkness I was expecting. Simple but satisfying.
