Samuel Adams Hefeweizen has a traditional spin on a classic American craft brewing style. This crisp, fruity wheat ale is cloudy, because the yeast has not been filtered out. Bavarian Spalt hops give the ale a crisp elegance, that is not bitter and leaves a clean aftertaste. Cheers!

12 oz bottle. Never thought I’d taste skunk in a Sam Adams product, but here it is, just faintly. Wheat and citrus overtones in the flavor. Malty, wheaty aroma. All in all, one of the worst, if not *the* worst Hefes I’ve ever had. It’s not bad, it’s very drinkable, just not all that great for the style.

12 oz. bottle, Best by Sept09. Didn’t know hefeweizen was a "classic American craft brewing style." Eh. Poured into a half-liter weizen glass, it shows a big, yellowish head. Bit of haze in the body. Maybe it should be an American wheat; I don’t find any weizen esters here. Just a crisp, slightly spicy American wheat smell. Taste on this runs to the watery side. Hops are there, but not very abundant. Slight citrus and sweetness, closer to a fig pudding than banana. Slightly toasted malts around here, nice dry finish, but I can’t get past the "off," watery texture, which I don’t usually get in a Sam’s (and I’ve had the LongShot Dunkelweizen, I know they can do estery wheat beer!). From a loose bottle rack at "the Jewel’s," Downers Grove. Now just two beers away from a new Best Beer Month Ever!™

Overall Impression: One of the Sam's traditional variety pack offerings, it's a pretty average hefe, not much else to say here...

12 oz. bottle. Kinda thick looking hazy orange pour. Strong grain and wheat aroma with some caramel notes. Kind of an odd butterscotch-fruity taste. Medium body.

Pours bright gold into a weizen. Bright white head quickly recedes to skim surface. Wheat aromas. Crisp with marshmallow front to back.

12 oz bottle...cloudy golden body with an off-white head that diminishes and stays down like an ashamed puppy...wheat, yeast light clove and an orange/lemon zest on the nose....light clove initially on the palate, some orange-----refreshing but a very typical american hefe...the yeast, the clove, yadda yadda ya...its ok...a little malts on a deep aroma sniff

Darker than a real hefe, because it is not. Cloudy though. Frothy white head. Mild banana aroma. Taste is of banana and spice. Nothing special. Thicker than the usual weizen. Actually has noticeable hops there too.

A bit underated. Aroma is banana and a bit of grass, but no skunk. Pours with a small, creamy, slightly off-white head. Decent enough lacing, but lacking on the retention. Color is a burnt yellow, but very very clear for a Hefe, only a slight tinge of opacity. Taste is very clean, but not dynamic at all. Watery mouthfeel and slightly overcarbonated.

Yeasty aroma of grain, mushrooms, and apple.Cloudy golden, thin white head. Bitter and yeasty, it tastes as it smells. It leaves a lot of grain on the palate. These american wheat beers parading as hefeweizens are awful.
