50 cL bottle. Pours pitch black with a huge tan head. Mild liqourice and roasted malty aroma. Roasted malty with a light acidic note, quite breadish and lasting roasted into the finish. Nice and roasted brew with a vague spice like note.

Bottle, Ale Cellar, Darlington. Poured a deep dark chestnuty black with not much of a head. Typical enough roasted malts in the aroma. Acceptable chocolate and licorice notes in the flavour;which seemed vaguely chalky and a bit on the thin side ; dryish finish Alright, but a bit ho hum.

[Cask at Hop Leaf, Reading] Pours a very deep chestnut-black with no head and no carbonation - looks like flat cola. Smells and tastes of roasted malt and coffee. After taste is slightly bitter, slightly dry, with some minerals (reminded me of granite for some reason). A pretty average stout, but quite drinkable. c9

Bottle, thx to Tarjei. A really dark brown beer with a reddish hue. Beige, small head leaving nice lacings. Bonfire, roasted malt and coffee in the aroma. Quite one-dimentional, but mellow and pleasant. The flavor has the same bonfire, roasted malt and coffee found in the aroma, but there’s also some licorice and a pleasant sweetness. Medium to full body with a nice co2 level. Quite dry. Roasted finish. A quite good beer, but a bit dry for a stout of my likings. Still, it’s a good beer. (080731)

Bottle. Brown / black colour with a tan head. Aroma is coffee, hop, malt, chocolate. Flavour is dry, coffee, hop, malt,chocolate.. Pleasent nice beer.

05.L bottle pours up with a four finger tan head. The body is dark with dark brown edges. The aroma is roasty to burnt malts with a dash of toffee and a background of spicy to faint pine hops. The taste start abruptly with near explosive carbonation detonating roasty to burnt malts along with a solid earthy sort of hoppy note going along with some vanilla and black licorice. At the finish a pleasing burnt malt note lingers deep into the after taste.

Gravity at Reading Beer Festival 2 May 08. Black as coal. A filmy head. Inviting aroma of coffee. A bit watery impression after that.

Gravicask at Reading Beer Festival. Devil black with a rusty tint. Thin, beige head. Sweet malty aroma slightly roasted. Dark chocolate taste with a strang kind of peaty touch. Foamy palate. Watered (shared with Finn, 02.05.2008).

(Cask at Kuikka on 2008-03-01) Black. Brown nice head. Coffee and salty liquorice in nose. Roasted malts and liquorice in taste. Quite strong bodied.

Cask at Cockney Pub. Frothy white fair mostly lasting head. Black colour. Moderate malty and lighthoppy aroma. Nice light bitter flavor with chocolate notes. Moderate bitter average finish. Oily palate.
