Pours with an average sizeed, light brown head covering a near black body. Really strong lacing and good retention. Aroma of spices, candi sugar, roasted malts, yeast, and alcohol with a dash of orange peel. Taste is really good, rich, creamy with plums and mild mulling spices, and is overall quite sweet. Alcohol is well hidden in the taste. Plenty of chocolate and maybe a bit of leather towards the finish. Creamy mouthfeel with perfect amount of bubbles. Mouthcoating.

750 ml bottle from John’s Market; shared by Enniskillen; Nose of plums, vanilla, banana, and chocolate; black with a big cinnamon head; flavor is fruity chocolate, nuts, and some tutti fruiti. Excellent!

Bittle. Frothy lightbrown good mostly lasting head. Black colour. Powerfull malty and fruity aroma. Moderate sweet and bitter flavor. Strong rasin and prune notes. Long nice moderate bitter finish. Creamy palate. Christmas indeed.

(From old notes, draught at Pikkulintu on 2008-01-04) Almost black. Rather small head. Dark and roasted malts in taste. Some hops. Spices. Hardly any alcohol in taste despite the strength. Dangerous, as it’s way too easy to drink the beer too quickly.

Bottle. Nice big creamy head with good duration. Color is dark amber. Aroma and taste are fruits, spices, caramel and malts.

750 mL bottle with a plastic(?) cork. Not a lot of carbonation, so the \"cork\" kind of eases off. Aromas hit before anything else... kind of a fruit and chocolate mixture of roasty malt. Body takes shape and it is very dark and releases about one finger of head. Flavor is interesting. The chocolate is there in strength, but there is also a lot of dark fruit taste as well. The two come together nicely with a little bit of a chalky texture and the high abv definitely gives a nice warming sensation. At the same time, however, there is a little bit of a flat spot right before things blossom into that lovely fruit dominated aftertaste in which nothing is going on and it seems kind of thin.

Near black, with a nice loose head. Stinging impy aroma with alcohol, burnt fruits and light chocolate. A little bit thin, boring with toasty and gutted chocolate malt character. The hops are high on bitterness due to a lack of residual sugars but yet they are sorely missed from the aroma. If Tim Horton’s did espresso, this is what it would taste like.

Pours dark brown approaching black with a huge off-white head. The aroma is roasted malts and coffee. Sweet and complex flavor profile.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Mikkeller. Hazy, dark brown - close to black - with an orange hue and a creamy, beige head leaving some lacework. Intense aroma of plums and dried fruit. Huge, full body - a little low in carbonation perhaps. Roasted maltiness with loads of dried fruit and some vinous, port-like accents. There’s a light, underlying tartness. Not much hoppiness to be detected but still fairly balanced and the massive alcohol well hidden. 010108

Pours deep brown into a Trappist glass. Mocha-colored head recedes to hug rim. Pit fruit and dark caramel aromas. Smooth with sweet caramel and a dry prune finish.
