Wow, I don’t know what it was, maybe I just had a bad bottle - but this was a huge disappointment. I’m a big southampton fan but this just kind of stunk. Pours pale yellow with tons of head. Scent is lemony. Aftertaste is harsh and stale. It didn’t work for me. Brasserie Dupont from now on for this style for me

Bottle at le mondiale 2011. Great funky, peppery, citric aroma. Lots of nice grassy, hay hopiness. Great carbonation, lively and light. Light bitter finish. Great sour, funky finish, world class saison.

Corked bottle, tasted @jbrus’s place. Honey color, tiny lumps of yeast floating. Flowery citric hops and fresh cheese in the somewhat flowery aroma. Citric, "funky", cheesy flavor with grapefruit. Grassy, hopbitter aftertaste. Lovely beer!

Bottle. Lemon, orange, biscuit malt, cardboard, and straw aroma. Hazy golden yellow with minimal head. Moderately sweet orange, lemon, biscuit malt, yeast, and moderately bitter hay flavor. Good body.

Refrigerated 75 cl brown bottle corked and capped poured into a tulip. Opaque nice orange with no head. Aroma is off ripe fruit, medium body, no carbonation, and no lacing. Taste is off ripe citrus.

Bottle courtesy of my collegue Håkan. Thank you! And thank you to the fine folks at the Top Hops Beer Shop who help me reserve some good beers for my collegue to pick up. Pours hazy yellow with a rather big frothy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of spotty trace on the glass. Smell is tiny fruiuty, slightly estery and tiny phenolic with freshly baked white bread, hay, lemon zest, pears, dry soil, unripe banana, white pepper corns, grape skins and hints of cloves, cilantro and lemon juice. Taste is tiny sweet, tiny bitter, slightly spicy, tiny fruity, slightly estery and tiny phenolic with crackers, freshly baked white bread, banana bread, marzipan, hay, dry soil, white pepper corns, pear skins, lemon zest, oatmeal flakes, and hints of alchol. Mouthfeel is soft, slightly dry, very tiny spicy astringent, very tiny boozy and medium bodied. Finish is slightly bitter, slightly spicy, slightly estery and slightly phenolic with white bread, oatmeal flakes, hay, dry soil, orange zest, lemon zest, white pepper corns, coriander, banana leaves, pear skins, grape skins and hints of alcohol. Dangerously easy to drink and refreshing. Another impressive Southampton offering.

750mL bottle, pours a hazy golden with a very large white head. Aroma brings out loads of farmhouse notes, fruity esters, and some Belgian yeast. Flavour is very similar, with loads of farmhouse notes, Belgian yeast, a little banana, and slight fruity esters. Very farmhouse-dominant and yeasty, with a yeasty, fruity finish. Low-to-medium carbonation for a saison. Excellent stuff.

Pour is a hazy honey color with a average white head. Aroma is musty but fruity with some orange peel. Flavor is more fresh off the tree citrus with some sugar with spice and maybe a touch of white pepper. Finish is dry with a nice vanilla left on the tongue. This is one of the better saison’s I’ve had in awhile. Nice yeastiness with a lot of fresh citrus.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 11/13/2014. Pours lightly cloudy golden amber color with a big 3 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with insane retention, that reduces to a thick cap that lasts. Dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with tons of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Beautiful looking brew. Aromas of big lemon zest, pear, apple, pepper, clove, wheat, bread, floral, grass, herbal, light funk, and earthy yeast spices. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast esters with some light malt. Taste of lemon zest, pear, apple, pepper, clove, wheat, bread, floral, grass, herbal, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of citrus, light fruit, pepper, clove, wheat, floral, grass, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast esters with a light-moderate malt balance; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. High carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly prickly mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an absolutely incredible saison style. Fantastic balance and compelxity of fruity/spicy yeast ester flavors; and extremely smooth and crisp to sip on. One of the best Saisons I have had.
