Et mørkt tradisjonelt gårdsøl brygget for høytidene ved norske gårdsbruk. Delikat røykpreg, balansert bitthert og dyp sjokoladesmak. Nissefar er for oss, definisjonen av et norsk juleøl.

Bottled. Deep brown colour with mediumsized brown head. Aroma is toffee, malts, slight roast and fruits. Also some mild spicyness. Flavour is leathery, malty, toffeeish and slightly smoked wood also. Quite slimy palate, but otherwise well done brew.

Bottled (brewed 03/2007, batch #35)
Dark nut brown color, almost opaque color, small brown head. Dark chocolate, burned dark malts and raisins in the nose. Chocolaty, yeasty, some spices (clove?), a bit alcoholic. Similarities to Nøgne Ø Porter, slightly thinner, not so coffeish and more spicey. When this beer warms up, it gets some Old Ale -stylish toffeish notes.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours an almost opaque, black with an orange hue and a creamy, light brown head. Roasted, lightly vinous aroma with notes of dried fruit. Full body with sweetish, roasted malt, dried fruit and a lightly burned edge. Some vanilla in there too. Quite lovely. 240507

Dark brown color; huge thick head. Some aroma of malt and roasted malt. Good body strength; the flavor is based on caramel and roasted malt; round enough; strong final, with a lot of caramel and roasted malt. Too much alcohol and too much bitterness from the roasted malt.

(50 cl bottle thanks to KnutAlbert) Huge head that makes it difficult to pour. Very dark brown to black color, very lasting head. A bit metallic and green apples scent. Minty and apples, burnt, smoke and rubber taste. Medium bitterness. Sweet chewing gum aftertaste. Spritzy mouthfeel.

Bottled 500ml. Nice dark brown body with gentle red/brown head. Aroma is light burnt with a hint of vanilla and coffee. Sweet flavor with a nice balanced bitter-hops and some acetic feeling in the background. Medium to full body, with oily texture. Rated as a 4-month aged beer as the brewers felt that Christmas time was a bit to early for this beer. I also tasted this beer in November and I have to say I agree. The beer feel more harmonic with a longer aftertaste. The short aftertaste in November was the only really negative aspect with this beer first time I tasted it.
