Traditional IPA (not USA style). Our best seller, this bottle conditioned, hopped IPA is intensely floral, with wine-like tannin and hop resins to the fore. However, allowed to ‘age’ and the tannin will almost disappear with the floral hop being replaced by a more subtle spicy character. Natural carbonation will develop and the beer will pour with a champagne like sparkle.

Bottle as shown. Pours a clear orange golden with a medium creamy off white that lasts awhile leaving good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a floral hops with bubblegum and orange peel. Medium mouthfeel with a bready malt flavor with a bitter finish. Easy to drink a good ESB from Ridgeway.

50cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. Amber with a loose cream head; heavily carbonated; dusty, resinous, citrus aroma; very clean bitter hop flavour with some honeyed sweetness; deeply bitter, earthy, finish. Really good.

1 pt. 9 oz. bottle from the Brickskeller. Pours a hazy orange color with a moderately thick, lasting head. Aroma is light citrus, hops, with more malts than I’m used to (real IPAs from England compared to extreme hop American IPAs). Flavor is mellow, with a nice balance between the hops and malts. Finishes with notes of banana, lemon, citrus, and a touch of pine.

Clear metallic orange; small off-white head. Good citric hops, lemongrass and somehow, dishwashing water. Truthfully not overpowering. Vague banana esters. Soft-hoppy, nearly sweet taste, citric but also sparandrap. Quite spritzy, carbonated, quite light body. I do not like the resident sweetness in this one, unbefitting an IPA.

Bottle from John’s Marketplace in Portland, OR. Darkly orange tinged golden color with a decent, frothy white head. Strong fruity aroma, which suggests peach. Medium plus body with extra creamy carbonation (BC!). Flavor is fruity bitter over rather caramel malt. It’s not excessively bitter. It’s fruity bitter. Doesn’t bite, but it is quite strong. Darn, but it seems so fresh. It tastes so good. One of the better Hepworth products I’ve tried. The finish is somewhat astringent. This one should not be passed up. Fenomenale, fantastica, and grandissima birra indeed. Best beer I’ve had all day!

Nice slightly hazy golden coloured body with a crisp orange glow and a perfect sized dense tan head - very nice! Aroma of fresh hops, grapefruit, oranges, pine, malt and a touch of alcohol. Medium-bodied; Strong hops up front (dry hopped) with a light malt backbone, yeast and citrus strong at first. Aftertaste has a lot of hops, some malt character and a mild yeastiness. Overall, a decent IPA - looks and smells better than it tastes, but all-in-all, not a bad beer! I sampled this 500 mL bottle purchased on 12-July-2008 from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York, sampled on 19-August-2008.
