Yeeow! Especially for the holidays, a brown ale with real attitude! The malts used to make Warm Welcome are roasted to give a hearty amber-brown colour and a warm, rounded nutty taste. This fine ale is dedicated to all you curious brew-lovers out there who ever had serious questions about the mechanics of Santa's supposed arrival by way of the chimney.

The label says nut browned ale, the beer doesn’t at all... Light amber with a disappearing off-white head. Fruity aroma with some toffee malt to it, and perhaps a hint of some citrus. Flavour is quite sweet, exotic fruits and some toffee. A little alcohol hits in the aftertaste.

Bottle. Clear medium to dark amber color with a large, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, nutty, light caramel, light to moderate hoppy, grass, herbs. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. (171207)

Early 2007 bottle drunk on 9/13/07
Initially a large, foamy, beige head rises up, only to settle back down to cover, rather quickly, while providing little/no lacing. Clear, sterile filtered, no doubt.
Sweet caramel and nuttiness is backed by cream and vanilla sweetness. A soft liqueur-like flavor stands in the background, like butterscotch and rum, though not terribly overt. Peppery hops, maybe? They certainly have no flavor to them, but I dont know what else would account for the slight peppery notes. The malts are very simple, not much depth at all, while the butterscotch isnt particularly pleasant. Some light fruitiness as it warms (cherries, dates, plums), but mostly just filtered out, dull, notes. Medium strength of aroma.
If the aroma is a little lackluster, than the flavor is just downright insipid. Brown sugar, caramel, sweet cream and light butterscotch are all too sweet and quite hard is the texture (very filtered, with a somewhat aggressive carbonation). No malt suppleness. Excessively clean, hard and dull tasting. Light alcohol warmth on the end grows as it breathes. Poured most of it out.

Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Clear dark amber. Caramelly nose. Sweet and malt driven with medium body and thick mouthfeel. Notes of butterscotch and syrup. Low bitterness. Warming perhaps, but not that good.

Bottle. Copper-amber beer with no head. Low malt aroma. Malty/toffee flavor with some citrus and grass. Lingering sweet caramel malt. Medium body.

Pours chestnut brown into a shaker. Off-white head quickly recedes to skim rim. Toasted caramel aromas. Thin and flat with caramel and a lasting slightly bitter finish.

Red brown ale with a thick creamy off white head. A light malt with caramel and english hops. A good nutty malt with light hopping, a bit oxidized, but overall a nice brown ale. Medium bodied. Bought at SpiritHaus Feb. 2006. Shared with Beerbuzzmtl.

16.9 oz bottle - Pours clear and brown with a thin head. The aroma is almost non-existent. I let it warm for a little while hoping it would bring out more flavor and aroma, but it didn’t. The flavor is a typical brown ale sweetness with lightly roasted malts and not much else. The palate is thin and lightly carbonated, and the finish is somewhat dry. This makes an okay session beer, but that’s it. There’s little to recommend it. I thought maybe the bottle being around since last winter was perhaps too long for this one, but I see earlier reviewers have similar opinions. Bafflingly up until last week the local World Market wanted six bucks a bottle for this beer. I’m glad I at least waited until they cut it to three.

Pour is a cola brown with almost no head. Aroma is malty and tart. Flavor is very thin malts and almost nothing else. very watery and plane. I agree with most raters that this is very average. Nothing to get excited about here.
