From a half liter bottle this stuff has a rather alarming volatile malt aroma. Big puffy tan head. First taste is not over the top but fer sure you know there’s alky in there. Yes, boozy is the word for the feel of this drink. Does not hide the alky well. Not sure what to think of this. I like porter but this must be a kind of Baltic porter if you ask me. Wew, almost has a gag reflex here baby. Some co2 keeps this from being flat. Not impressed.

Had my eye on it for a while. I can’t remember when was the last time I had it. Nor do I remember what it tasted last time, so this is like clean slate new beginning. Pours Dark Brown, Medium Foamy Head that dissipates rather quickly leaving decent lacing. Slightly roasted, caramel, sweet malt, with slight alcohol zing. Slightly thinner than expected or remembered. Overall, quite good, no disappointments.

500 ml bottle from Barley and Hops. A basic to style Baltic. Pours a deep red/brown color with a medium white head. A big nose of licorice and sweets. The flavor has a similar base of licorice, cocoa, chocolate, some metal, roast and caramel. Smooth. Good.

Bottle from Rasputin’s, Ipswich. Distinct treacle aroma on opening, pours a very deep ruby brown with a good head. Caramelised, quite thick and rich. Some carbonation, though head soon disappeared. Quite strong at 6.8% which comes through as you drink.

The smell is chocolate, coffee, malts, and oil. The taste is the same as the smell. The look is black in color with an off white head.
