Swing top bottle. Dark brown color, no head. Malt, molasses and licorice in the aroma. malty sweet flavor, bready with roasted malt, apple syrup and licorice. Alcohol is fairly well hidden. The beer is not without complexity.

bottle, thanks to the Ruhrgebiet! Clear dark brown colour, mid-sized head. Malty nose. Sticky sweetness and maltyess present. Hints of dried fruit, slightly sicy with some herbal accents. Quite nice.

(swing top bottle) Clear, dark amber colour with a small, slightly off-white head. Sweet, slightly roasted dark malt aroma with caramel (leaves the impresion of German malt bonbons) and a light spicy herbal hoppy touch in the background. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a well-carbonated and matured mouthfeel. Solid dark and slightly roasted malty base with caramel and hints of liquorice and herbal notes in the background; sweet-bitter, rounded toast-malty and elegantly hopped finish. The first brew from Altötting that convinces me.

Bügelverschlußflasche: Amber coloured, clear, smaller off-white lacy head, sweet-caramelly to dark-malty nose with a tinge of spicy hops; solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied; spicy hoppy-bitter finish underpinned by caramel and dark malt. Really a good Bock, the first brew from Hell, which is tasty...........

Test vom 30.8.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 7,5,6,4,9,5 - 5,40

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of fiulijn. Clear, dark orangey brown with an off-white head. Clean and very malty nose. Quite full-bodied with roasted malt and lightly burned caramel accents - very, very German. Almost no bitterness. 030707

Nice red-mahogany color; the head reduces quickly, but leaves a nice lace. The aroma is malty and sweet, as only German Bock are, at times. The flavor is also very sweet, malty (not thick), with sweet caramel and a touch of ripe apples. You may find it oversweet, but I like it, for example to finish a meal.

Bottled. A deep red-brown beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel and a light dusty note of hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, rye bread, and brown sugar, leading to a dry bready and very bitter finish. The mouthfeel is very soft.
