Bottled. A deep red beer with a small but dense brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of chocolate as well as a light note of roasted malt, lending it a slight acidity. The aroma is sweet malt with notes of roasted malt, lots of chocolate, and light notes of capuchino. It has a nice body. More like a stout than a dunkles.

(3/1/08) Sample from a bottle (I think FatPhil brought this one - thanks!) at the RB table at Zythos Bier Festival 2008 in Sint Niklaas. Dark brown color. Aroma of malt, caramel, a bit of toast and coffee notes. Malty sweet flavor with caramel and notes of coffee. A slightly watery finish. Medium body. Nice and enjoyable.

330ml Bottle- Very dark brown in colour and almost black. Malty aroma with liquorice and aniseed. Rich, bitter taste with plain chocolate, coffee and some aniseed. The richness is not so noticeable after the first sip and it becomes quite smooth. Good quality and it has some porter leanings. The best Ålands beer I have had so far.

Interessnates Dunkles. Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Near black, creamy head. Sweet and mildly roasty with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Some sugary coffee. Finishes with low bitterness. Quite nice on the surface, but there seem to nothing underneath.

Draught. Black colour, small head. Aroma is malty and hoppy with some sweetish hints. Flavour is black coffee, malts and fruits. Very dry finish. Quite carbonated. 5 3 6 3 10

Re-rated during SOPP in June 2006 (draught) and April 2007 from bottle. Very dark brown colour iwth huge beigeish brown head. Aroma is smoke and lots of roasted malts. Flavour is lots of smoke and roast with some weak hints of caramel. The roast stays for long in the aftertaste. Not sure if it’s a new recipe, or if the "later" ratings just have aged properly, since it was a brand new beer in October 2005 (first ratings, it used to be the beer of the month on Hyvät Olutravintolat -"chain"). Not it’s turned out to a really nice dark beer. 7 4 7 3 14.
