2006 version: Brown sugar and cinnamon in the aroma. Sweet flavor with cardemom. Sugary, some distant hops. Hints of roasted malt. Disappointing once again. (5 3 6 2 10 = 2.6) After some comments from Molenbrouwer I decided this beer needed a re-rate. Cinnamon, licorice and bread dough in the aroma and and the malty sweetish flavor. There should be dry hopping, but this is hard to taste. Some earthy hops in the aftertaste, but that’s about it. Still, I get the hang of this beer, so I upped the rating

33cl Bottle. 2006 VINTAGE. Trade with thewolf. Pours deep amber with a reddish hew and a small creamy stable white head. Nose is deep, vinous, complex and really wonderful. It has lots of dark fruits such as prunes and figs, and also some sherry and port notes. Sweet, deep and really lovely. Smooth, vaguely sticky and full bodied. Taste is a mix of liquorice, port and dark fruits. Amazing.
