It is, quite simply, a wonderful beer. It is exceedingly pale (21-22 units colour), with just a hint of colour in its cheeks from the dash of crystal malt. It has a massive orange fruit aroma from the challengers, balanced by
biscuity malt.

Juicy malt and tart hops vie for attention in the mouth while the finish is tart and hoppy but well balanced by creamy malt. The bitterness rating is a substantial 36-38. The tangy fruit lingers on the back of the tongue until it develops a hint of orange liqueur.

Malt - Maris Otter pale malt and crystal malt
Hops - Challenger

Cask (backlog). Golden colour, not that much head. Aroma is floral, fruity, some mild herbal and grassy notes along with mild toffee. Flavour is herbal, grassy, floral and mildly bready malts to it. Very basic, and not all too exciting.

On cask at the Black Bull. Appearance - golden with a proportionate head. Nose - delicate malt with oranges. Taste - more pronounced oranges against a sweet malt backdrop. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - not exciting by modern standards but very balanced and drinkable.

Cask. An orange beer with a small disappearing head. The aroma is slight but with sweet notes. The flavor is lovely bitter with some flowery and spicy notes. It is brewed on an OK malt and has an OK bitternes, that lingers.
