Bottled. Clear nut brown, average head. Sweet and somewhat fruity with lots of saccharine, light bodied. Artificial and unpleasant with low hop rate and bitterness. Germany’s worst dunkel?

Bottled, alc. 4.2 % (BB 09/2007)
Dark nut brown color, small brownish head. Aroma of saccharin and sugars. Flavor is woody and more saccharin. Harsh finish, very unbalanced - not brewed according "Reinheitsgebot". Similar to Sinebrychoff’s Kotikalja (low alco).

Very thick, dirty yellow-brown head, collapsing over fully opaque, near-black beer. Remarkable salty-sweet nose, with a dash at Chinese Oystersauce. Further more classical (dark) bready aroma’s. Very fade sweet taste, with vague hints at licorice, mainly. A bit bready & malty, and somehow chalk. No salinity here, but it clearly shows its artificial sweetener. Retronasal some woody notes. Quite slick, a tad cloying. "Aus einem anderen Zeit" they say. Saccharin? Yes, they mean DDR-Zeit, and I thought this was finally over? And worse, the back label calls it "Art Oud Bruin"! SACRILEGE!

Nachgeschmack: Nicht vorhanden. Fazit: Na...des is nix. Bottle: Dark amber coloured, lasting, thin off-white foamy layer; typical aroma: roasted malts, molasses, hops from far behind; heavy sweet and malty start; taste of a sweetened coffee, light hoppiness in the short finish; oily texture; typical "DDR"-taste, not bad, but too sweet for me.........

(bottle) Dark brown colour with a medium tanned foamy head. Sweet malty nose with raisins. Sweet flavour. Sweet, slightly toasted malty taste with strong hints of caramel and sugar. Quite sweet finish with a rather short length and hints of raisins. Not my kind of taste, too sweet and too Malzbier-like.

Clear dark brown color, short head. Aroma of skunky german hop. Sticky and malty taste and palate. Unimpressive Dunkel.
