Gravity keg at the Goldener Adler in Muersbach-Germany, based on Manuele advise who "whispered" a new possible recipe. The guy who poured, upon my question, presented it as a Keller-Bock which sounded quite strange to me...anyway. Pours a very bright and unfiltered brownish-orange color, with a medium off-white cap. Nose: roasted malts, well-hidden caramel notes and after getting warmer a bit of spirit-like alcohol warming feel. Mouth: nutty, soft body, again roasted malts. Low-medium carbonation and a very pleasant nice end. It talks to a dunkel but apparently is just a "vintage" Franconian Keller. Tasty!

Bottle from a REWE in Bamberg. Copper coloured, with a slight, white, head and touch of carbonation. Sweet, brown sugar and berry fruit aroma. Flavour was similar with some toastiness in the finish. Fine.

bottle, mit Dank an Frankenland! Hazy brown colour, large and creamy off-white head. Malty nose with caramel. Malty base, caramel, biscuits and some floral hops in the lingering caramelly finish. Good!

Medium dark-yellow head over faintly hazy foxy-amber beer. Nice bready & leafy/earthy notes, dark malts announcing themselves. Dry, melanoidin-determined taste, faintly nutty and leafy. Sweetish finish with a hint of coffee. Soft creamy MF, well-carbonated. Long, faintly wry aftertaste. Very nice Dunkel (or rather, Bernsteinfarbiges!) Many thanks to DonS!

Unlabeled bottle. Beer in the glass looks really good. Nice, creamy head. Starts mild and malty, not too roasty, fine smoky finish. Very drinkable. Very good beer!

Bottle, kindly delivered by Frankenland! A bit hazy, chestnut-amber coloured with creamy beige head. Caramelly and hoppy, but also metallic nose. Moderate sweetish-bitter flavour, light bodied to thin. Traces of caramel in the metallic-bitter finish. Not really convincing, not typical for the style........

Bottle. Hazy, chestnut-brown colour with a beige medium-sized foamy head. Moderately sweet, toffee-ish and toast-malty aroma with lighter notes of vanilla and shy herbal hops. Light-sweet flavour, slim bodied, but not watery mouthfeel with a well-matured carbonation. Toasty malt-accented taste with caramel. Herbal notes show up towards the moderately dry and not consequently lasting finish. Nice enough [09.XII.08].
