Dark blond fresh craft wheat beer (white beer) 6.5 ABV Unpasteurized and unfiltered natural craft beer of top fermentation. Dark blond in colour. The name witbier (white beer) finds its origin in the old Flemish-Dutch word weitbier that turned into wit beer which is not about the colour, but about the raw material used: wheat. The name of the beer originates from the past. Back in 1800, in ‘s-Hertogenbosch there was Gerrit, a dangerous highwayman who made the Meierij area unsafe. When he went raiding, the very first farmer he met would be in trouble. He was said to dress as an innocent woman to make his move. Gerrit and his companions would then party at the De Pettelaer inn with the looted booty. Things didn’t end well for Gerrit. He was caught in Amsterdam and hanged. His last meal consisted of a brandy with sugar. Nothing funny to sing a nice song about it. We know that he and his companions hid for a long time in a field of wonderful wheat, and it is the latter’s seedlings we use as raw materials for our beer. Available on tap at Jongens van De Wit and bottled in 1 litre PET-bottles for take away or as a gift. Kegs (20 liters) are filled for the catering industry.

Taster @ the brewery.
Hazy amber with a thin off-white head. Caramel aroma. Sweet taste without banana. Sweet finish. Decent but a bit boring
