Ingredients: Finest barley malts, wheat malts, and fresh whole hops.
Bock beer, released in celebration of the arrival of spring, is an ancient and mysterious part of the brewing tradition. Over time, the term "bock" has come to mean a beer darker and stronger than the brewery’s regular brew. This is the first time we have brewed a bock at Anchor Brewing Co., and we hope you will find it to be a rich and flavorful addition to our offerings. San Francisco’s Anchor Bock Beer is virtually handmade by the brewers of Anchor Steam® Beer, in one of the most traditional small breweries in the world.

Bottle. Medium red / brown color with a small fair lacing off-white to light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty and yeasty, alcohol, roasted. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate bitter (malty sweet) with a average to long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. Very nice :o))

Bottle Pours a very dark brown. Thick and viscous. Extremely dense tight tan head. Thick fine lacing that clings the the sides of the glass. Very atractive. NIce lightly roasted malt flavor, slightly woody and a bit of chocoalte. Flavor is again, light roasted, chocoalte and slightly acidicgrassyness. Lightly hopped and a slightly bitter twang ans the end. Very nice smooth feel and soft fine carbonation.

Flowery aroma and malty aroma. ? with halogen it’s a ruby brown color; beige head that laces. Starts sweet - but dark fruit more than malt. A bit thin. A burst of spice, but only for a moment. There is a chocolate character, and also a hint of underlying sour. Finishes with some Guiness toasted malt balanced with hop. The lasting impact is mild bitter. It is really good stuff.

Pour is a dark with with a average with head. Aroma is a nice malt and hops mix. Makes we want to take a sip right away. Flavor is nice caramel malts lots of chocolate and some hops come through in the end. Nice effort for a bock a very easy style to dislike.

Rated November 2006. 12oz bottle. Dark amber color brew with light brown head. Sweet malt and molasses aroma. The flavor begins with a slight tart twinge that hits as the carbonation does. Then roasted malts and some brown sugar (maybe) fill in the rest of the flavor. As the taste ends the flavors kind of even out and dissipates.

Very dark amber pour, with substantial tan lace - medium sweet aroma, with hints of wheat, clove, chocolate and brown sugar - medium-bodied and creamy - slightly sweet, with a gentle, balancing tartness - cocoa, caramel, clove, even a hint of cherries - very subtly complex - quite nice.
