Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7
Can - labeled as 9.5% abv - deep amber, nearly black - fizzy carbonation - flavor is earthy malt up front, with pumpernickel bread and cherry - light tartness and spiciness through the middle - caramelized sugars and nuttiness arrives late, along with some chocolate, a hint of smoke - a bit like an imperial brown ale - fairly complex, a little rough around the edges.
