500ml bottle from Mitchells Wines at Meadowhead - Deep mahogany body, short 'lived off white top. Nose is caramel, some dark fruits and a lot of malt. First note of taste is the caramel, very sweet and toffee-like, bready, Soreen malt loaf and prunes. Bit thin, but sound enough.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Pours an almost clear mahogany colour with a thick creamy beige head. Lots of carbonation in the glass. Nice lacing. Aromas of dry dark fruits, berries, cherries, plums, caramel, nuts, fruit cake, brown bread and mild chocolate. Taste has the same notes as the aroma with some added mild notes of leather. Full bodied with a lovely smooth oily mouthfeel and a long slightly sweet dark fruity finish. Nice Doppelbock!

Clear chestnut brown with a nice ivory-coloured head. Nose: caramel, candy, dried fruit, treacle. Medium body. Taste: medium sweet, rich malts, dried fruit, esters, candy, chocolate. Light bitterness. Fairly good.

Bottles from Beers Of Europe (2019) and Great Grog (2024). Clear ruby body with a thick beige head that holds well. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, raisin and plum. Flavour of roasted malt, toffee and prune. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. A sweet, moreish Doppelbock.

7,3% on the label. Malty, bit soapy aroma. Full bodied, sweet and a bit soapy flavor. Malty with just a bit of apple and roasted malt. Sadly, the soapiness ruins the flavor. Re-rate: caramel and laurel in asroma and flavor. Buttery and somewhat herbal. Not my favorite doppelbock.

Smell of caramel malt, some earth. Bronze colour, high brown head. Aroma of caramel malt, some nuts. Sweet. Very pure flavours, very nice German doppelbock. Flat carbon, slightly oily palate.
