Empire Pale is matured for a minimum of three months in the brewery to replicate the length of a sea journey from England to India in the 19th century. The beer is then bottled with live yeast and will continue to improve and mature under glass.

Courtesy of Fishingnet. Pours brown-ish orange with haze and thin off white head. The aroma is pungent with spice, tartness, leaning toward tannin mixed with funk, urinal port-o-potty cake and sweet tart sugariness. Interesting. The taste seems influenced by yeasty spice, sweet tartness dipped in funk all mixed with sweet malts and mild noble hops. Not much else going on.

Bouteille, courtoisie de Hogtownharry. De couleur ambrée et légèrement voilée. Nez fruité (agrumes, notes de pommes), de houblon citrique et légèrement floral (notes herbeuses et terreuses) et malté de caramel (notes de toffee), avec de très faibles notes fumées (genre cigarette) et d’alcool. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen mais croustillant ainsi qu’une texture légèrement crémeuse. Goût amer de houblon floral, citrique (pamplemousse), aux notes herbeuses et terreuses (qui dure toute la gorgée) avec un goût fruité (agrumes) aux notes boisées asséchantes lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût malté de caramel toffee légèrement sucré parallèlement à un goût d’alcool léger-moyen (faibles notes métalliques) et réchauffant ainsi qu’à un léger goût de fumée (genre cigarette) puis en finale l’on assiste à un léger regain d’amertume de houblon plus terreux, herbeux et sec. Post-goût moyen-long et sec, amer d’alcool moyen-léger, de houblon citrique, terreux, floral et légèrement herbeux avec un goût fruité (zest d’agrumes) aux notes boisées.

Ok, so it’s not really Orval, but you can imagine my delight that uninhibited brett has no doubt had its way with this beer while it’s been cellaring. Only a delicious afterthought of strong, honeyish malts that almost must be Maris Otter. Mostly it’s just tons of brett. That makes me happy.

Pours deep amber into an English pint. Off-white micro head top hats like seafoam above the rim. Thick pasty head as it slowly recedes. Sweet malt and hop aromas. Creamy caramel, pine and citrus with a lasting bitter alcohol burn.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden straw with a large, active, off white head. Aroma is apples, citrus, english hops, floral, and malt. Very nice. Has a medium, dry mouth. Flavor is much like the aroma, floral, citrus, and malty. The apple is present, lurking in the background. Finishes with a nice, but not very strong, hop bite with noticeable dryness and a bit of alcohol. A very fine brew.

Bottle courtesy of Hogtownharry: Poured a medium cloudy yellow/beige color ale with a medium foamy head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of english dry hops with a floral component is dominating and quite enjoyable. Taste is a mix between some malt that is quite dry as well as a hoppy finish with a dry aftertaste. Body is above average with low filtration and low carbonation. I have really been digging the English hops lately and this was very rewarding.

Dark golden with a medium lasting head. Citrus light hop aroma. Bitter and rich flavour with some alcohol.

500ml bottle from Bacchanalia, Cambridge. Hazy mid brown colour with lasting beige head. Good fruits and malt aroma. Dry malts in mouth, earthy hops throughout. Quite toffeeish. Some grapefruit. Rounded in mouth. Quite lovely hop on end. Quite a good toffee hop mix. Been looking for this for some time and I love the label. A little disappointed, expected more hop maybe.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a pretty, clear amber with a small, creamy, off-white head, Fat malt aroma with a wee touch of citrus. Medium-bodied with lightly sulphurous malt accents, some nuts and a rather dominant alcohol. Brutal bitterness in the finish. Not pleasant. 291006

A lightly hazed dark amber ale with an ultra thick persistent off white head, like an Achel or an Orval. A peppery hop in aroma, herbal and wild. The foam itself is pure hop juice, lots of humulones retained. Wow! In mouth, a wild crisp malt, with lingering bitterness, grapefruit, wild herbs, and brett. A truly wild IPA, veering in Orval territory! Shared with Beerbuzzmtl. Merci Denis!!!
