Placidus Kobolt, so sein bürgerlicher Name, war Pfarrer in Ummendorf, bevor er Abt des Klosters Ochsenhausen wurde. Unglücklicherweise litt der Kirchenmann an „unzweideutigen Spuren einer vielfältigen Geisteszerrüttung“, so dass er bald wieder abgesetzt wurde. Der eigenwillige Abt erlangte jedoch nicht nur seltene Berühmtheit wegen seiner sonderbaren Taten, sondern auch durch den Bau des klösterlichen Brauhauese. Ganz so verwirrt kann der Mann also gar nicht gewesen sein.

Litre swing top bottle, bought at the brewery. Caramel aroma. Caramelly flavor with coffee and some nutty bitterness. Tasty, but thin.

Bottle 500cl. w. swing top @ home.Clear medium to dark red brown - amber color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, bread, roasted, caramel. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, soft roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20101004]

1litre bottle, bought at the brewery. Chestnut brown colour, medium-sized head, slightly hazy. Aroma of malt and caramel. Full-bodied, smooth and very pleasant mouthfeel. Flavours of caramel, toffee and vanilla. A lovely Dunkel!
