Can from Cask & Barrel. Decocted Pilsner...is there some other fucking way to make pilsner? Dull gold, because there's a fair bit of pointless haze. Heavy malts and wet grassy hops. The core elements are there, but they aren't special in any way. Not getting, for example, that sweet beautiful pale malt brightness I want in the base. The saaz...it is what it is...the best saaz doesn't leave the Czech Republic anyway so I am realistic in what I expect there.

16 oz. can, pours a clear golden with a medium white head. Aroma brings out spicy, bitter hops, grass, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is crisp, with a spicy grassy hop character, crisp biscuity malt, and cereal grains. Ample bitterness and spiciness from the Saaz, with a crisp finish. Very nicely made.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver, 4.9% ABV, 11/23/2020
The can is gushing, probably just high pressure. Hazy blond colour, compact head, with long retention. Wonderful aroma, bready malts, with some grassy hops. The malt flavour is robust, yet the mouthfeel is lean, it's biscuity, almost toasted; the bold hopping seems to boost the malt too, it's moderately grassy and spicy, very bitter, slightly too bitter in the finish, but this brew has a lot of character.

Clear gold with white head. Light grassy aroma. Malty taste with a bit of a hop. A very good Czech pilsner.
