Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown color with a longlasting big off-white head. Malty bready and slightly grainy aroma. Sweet malty bready flavor with some hints of chocolate and caramel. Sweet malty finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

(On tap) Clear, dark orangey brown with a dense, creamy, beige - almost cappuchinoish - head leaving a broad curtain of lacework. Roasted, almost coffeeish aroma. Medium body with lots of roasted malt accents. An underlying sweetness yet generally dry. Lovely. 081106

(swing top bottle, bought at the brewery tap) Clear, dark brown colour with a reddish shine and a moderate beige foam. Slightly toasty, dark cookie aroma with light notes of caramel, hay and hops. Slightly sweet flavour, medium to light body, moderate carbonation. Dark-malty, toasty taste with caramel, bread dough; slightly sweet, liquorice spicy finish. Nice.

Bottle at London Drinker BF 2006. Very dark brown, beige head. Not a huge aroma, some coffee/toffee, bit of powder. Not a lot of anything, but not that bad. Competent but not exciting

Herbal grassy and slight burned aroma. Chestnut color, moderate carbonation and thick foamy head. Aromatic grassy notes dominate the flavor, quite light body and tinny mouthfeel. A bit more powerfull malty body and this would be a really good beer.
