For this batch we looked to Franconia for inspiration. One of the specialties of this Southern German region is Kellerbier, an unfiltered, hop-forward lager. For our rendition, we used European malt varieties to create a medium-bodied, amber base upon which to layer noble hop character. Spalt and Tettnang hops impart spicy, herbal aromas that lead to nutty, toasty malt flavor.

On tap at Churchkey for a VA/MD tap take over. Pours a clear, dark gold with some clumpy head. Floral nose, dough, dandelion, lemon. Flavor is solid, a little green grass and green veg, grist, yeast, lemon, soap. Crisp finish.

Draft at Churchkey. Poured a totally clear amber-yellow color with a small white head. Aroma was grassy, with some light citrus juice, but only just. Light toasted notes. Light sweet malts. Very crisp, grassy notes. Easy to drink.
