We brewed 2 identical DIPAs – Surf Maps & Jump Maps with one single difference. This difference is something that I have been intrigued about since my homebrewing days but have never actually done a direct comparison with no other changes to get in the way for a definitive finding.

Panda at home, thanks to the Wingmane, 15/01/23. Murky orange to light amber with a just off white covering that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is ripe tropical fruit esters, hop spice, guava, mango pulp, lychee. Taste comprises stoned fruit esters, mango flesh, papaya, grapefruit, pine resin, touch of hop spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spliced with juicy come resinous hop bitterness. Decent DIPA.

Panda 🐼 at home big thanks to Wingman dave. A translucent golden orange coloured pour with a fine off white head. nice soft wheat, opal fruit, green citrus, pear. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, wheat, pithy, mineral, orange passion fruit, orange rind, Palate is semi sweet, rounded, highish carbonation. Solid.

Can from Eltham Wines. Hazy gold pour with a white head. Nose is passionfruit, peach, white grape, mango, grapefruit. Taste is grapefruit, mango, white grape, splash of lemon zest. Sweet fruit in the foretaste leading to a bitter citrusy finish. Tasty.

Draught @Pien Ahop, Helsinki. Got the last of the keg, so just a small sample. Very intense aroma here, dank hops, tropical delight. Intense and tasty. Not at all what the Jump Maps tasted like later, but maybe due to the small size of the sample and due to the keg finished.

Side-by-side with jump maps, would totally have thought they're the same beer otherwise. Surf feels a bit creamier but also has more bitterness. No idea what the difference is, flavor is identical. Nice both of them.

On tap at the brewery. Pours hazy yellow. Orange, pineapple, lemon, grapefruit, sweet fruity finish. Medium body. Good. Sweeter, no grass.
