Bottles from House Of Trembling Madness and The Kernel’s online shop. Black body with a thick tan head that holds well. Good lacing. Aroma of Terry’s chocolate orange, red grapes, coffee and blueberry. Flavour of chocolate brownie, blackcurrant and orange zest. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Rich and tangy. The Kernel absolutely nails this style every time.

From tap ar the taproom in Bermondsey on a warm summer night 08.07.22. Ebony. Dense and persistent brown head and lacing. Superbly complex aroma and lingering taste of grapefruit, coffee, ash, liquorice, dark chocolate, vanilla, bitter pine, sour red berries and roasted malt. Aaaaaahh…

330ml bottle. Roasty, hoppy and citrusy with some pine, grapefruit, coffee and hints of coconut, loads of roastiness and bitterness in the finish. Yet again a great Black IPA from this series.

Bottle. Beer Central Sheffield. Opened up lively. Sits very dark brown with a big, fairly open, lasting tan swede. Wasn’t expecting that. Nose has light roast coffee. Chocolate. Bit of a Bounty bar thing. Past that there’s a load of citrusy hop. Some dried stone fruit. Overall it’s like a plum and grapefruit infused Black IPA. Taste is momentarily sweet with a big hop, dark malt bitterness. Super smooth and creamy with fine carbonation. Big roast malt and charred citrus bitterness to finish. Whoa this is tasty gear.
