Bottle at Kookfest 06. Dark brown, dark beige head. Sourish malt aroma, bit oily. It’s ok, bit like a porter/old ale.

Bottled. Ruby red colour, small brownish head. Aroma is plum, spices and hops. Flavour is plum and roast. No real finish nor aftertaste, leaves it quite watery and empty. Quite "lightweight" Scwartzbier.

Pour is a very deep, dark red with a small white head. Aroma is hard to find but some malts make an appearence. Flavor is coffee malts with a touch of hops. Kinda watery in the end and the over pricing brings the rate down. Its an average schwarzbier.

Years ago this was a regular beer for me. I have not had one for about 6 years now and decided to try one again now that my beer palate has expanded. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with red highlights and only a trace of a tan head. The aroma is faint roasted malt. The flavor is powerful with roasted malt and has moderate chocolate and brown sugar elements. I had forgotten how much I like this one, but it is no longer a favorite.

Bottled, thanks SpringsLicker! Nut brown. Brutal aroma of sheer butyric acid. Something has gone very wrong here. It’s hard to say if the fault derives from the brewing process or if it was left in a boiling hot container while being shipped overseas. However with brewers that don’t stamp a bottling date I have no mercy, and add my rating anyway.
