Commercial description on the label:
You notice first the natural very dark color of the Wilson Stout, and its creamy dense head. The anticipated light sweetness of the roasted malt, in combination with a typical Van Steenberge hoppiness, offers you more taste and flavor than the common commercial stouts on the market. Certainly the aftertaste leaves you with the impression that this Stout has more body.

25 cL bottle. Pours dark with a deep amber hue and a chocolate brown head. Sweet sugarish aroma with a distinct breadish note. Flavour is sweet breadish like a Danish hvidtøl. Light roasted note in the finish. Light acidic note too, but dominantly sweet.

250 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.2%. Black colour, creamy brown head. Strong and sweet aroma of treacle / caramel, roasted malts, molasses, bakery and chocolate. Nice! Very sweet flavour, largely the same elements as in the aroma, but far too sugary and overwhelmingly sweet for me.

Bottle: Poures dark black color with a light creamy brown head. The aroma is Sweet roasted malt but had hints of caramel. I under why this is called sweet since it hit me like a shock wave. Very sweet caramel and roasted malt.

33cl bottle from Noel Cuveliers. Very dark ruby/black, disappearing tan head. Insanely sweet stout. Frankly poor.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. As the Belgian Beer Guide states this is ’absurdly sweet’. It pours black with a brown head. Nose was a bit burnt sugarey, but really just very sweet. Taste was far, far too sweet it really was a challenge getting over that to try and taste anything else. Loz described this as being like liquid caramel and I think that was a very good description. I didn’t dislike this beer, its just that the sweetness gave it far too much of a one dimensional edge.

0.25l bottle from a store here in Split My first Sweet Stout I believe... this poured an opaque dark brown-black body on top of which perched a tiny tan head. The nose is pure caramel. The taste isn’t far off. Light, caramelly, very sweet, yet overall weak. Some faint roastiness and nothing like. Feels like a flat cola. Not impressive.

(25 cl bottle at The Rover, Göteborg) BB: January 29, 2005. Dark brown to black color, brown head. Awful grainy and acid scent, some wine. Sweet and sour, strange taste. Medium mouthfeel and low bitterness. Long sweet aftertaste.
