(25 cl bottle at The Rover, Göteborg) BB: January 29, 2005. Dark brown to black color, brown head. Awful grainy and acid scent, some wine. Sweet and sour, strange taste. Medium mouthfeel and low bitterness. Long sweet aftertaste.

Bottled(250ml). -Black coloured, small brown head, strong artificial caramel nose. Milky and caramel aroma with strong sugary presence. Extremely sweet, sweeter even than non-alcoholic malt (malz) drinks. Sweet, faint hoppy and slight nutty finish. Had this now and never again.

0.25l bottle. Paper, sugar and milk - like artificial breakfast cereal, earthy fruit. Very dark brown, no head. One-dimensional sugary, earthy fruit. Lightbodied. Light vineous, otherwise, negligible aftertaste.

Bottled. Black. Raisiny malt aroma. Sweet with notes of rye bread, port and sweet wort as well as saccharine. Medium bodied. The sweetness is less excessive than in many other Belgian stouts, making it more drinkable.

(Bottle 25 cl) Very dark brown, close to black with a small, tan head. Slightly tart nose and some metallic notes - actually rather reminiscent of a Flemish sour. But then you’re hit by the sweetness. Feels surprisingly full-bodied for it’s rather low alcohol. Brings memories of a Danish "hvidtøl". 040599

An opaque brown beer with a collapsing brown head. The aroma is roasted, and the flavor is very sweet with notes of caramel, while the mouthfeel is sticky. This reminds me of a Danish Hvidtøl, except the licorice is missing.

very dark brown, almost opaque. Quckly vanishing head. Aroma of cold coffee, kandi sugar and coffee beans. Medium to full body. Very sweet, barley-wine type flavor. Aftertaste gives a taste of burned sugar. A bit too sweet to be really enjoyable.

Nearly black; dark-brown creamy head, going rather fast. Nose of very sweet chocolate, lactic but not sour, as fresh unpasteurised milk, sweet yoghurt or 'babeure'. Ends like hazelnut-chocolate bread spread. Taste is sweet, but much less sweet than remembered. They've tweaked this! Flavours of British chocolate (= much addition of lecithine, vegetable oil 'stead of real cacao), faint sweet yoghurt, with a dash of acidity. Some malt after all, and nutty again. Rather well-bodied, probably not very highly attenuated. Wilson Stout is a (tweaked? the reverse label says 5.2% ABV, but I have some difficulty believing) relic of the very sweet stouts that once stood between real 'tafelbier' ("Cat. III") and ordinary sweet stout. Cat II, one might very well find on old bottles; It's IMO at the edge of 'beer'. But unlike some other tasters, I cannot find it cloying.
