2025, 12.4 abv version. Black in color with a small head. Aroma is whiskey barrel, dark roasted grains, hints of chocolate and maybe just a slight whiff of caramel. Taste is also whiskey barrel, dark roasted grains, with mocha and just a slight touch of vanilla

Single from Appalachian at a very reasonable $4.95.
Inky black pour, russet edges. Lingering pale brown ring of lace after a beautiful cascade.
Sharp & velvety malt, pecan sweetness, dense but muted nose, hint of varnish.
Thin & dense impy stout, old wood, pleasant oxidation, burnt raisin, sharp dates, burnt veg, lingering medium tea astringency. Strong molasses, big soy sauce notes. Off-sweet ending off-dry, acidy, sharp & bitter.
Overall body is a touch light, sharpness high to on point. rich & boozy, thin & bitey.
Hot but tasty.

Tap at Whole Goods in Santa Clara. Different and much less robust than when I’ve had this in the past. Licorice. Slight dusted chocolate. Moderate booze.
Dark brown bblack pour from can - disappearing tan head. Smell vanilla and oak. Carbonation. Malts, fruits, bourbon

Pours black with a lingering tan head. It smells of bourbon, chocolate, roast malt, and coffee. The intense flavori s sweet with bourbon, chocolate, oak, roast malt, and coffee. It's full bodied and boozy but not overly so. This is a delicious imperial stout.

Junction Road store. Aromas are fudge, dark malt, roast, with a little molasses and the barest hint of whiskey. Flavors are similar to nose, good balance between bitter, sweet and carbonation. A bit more whiskey comes in at the end. Add in a touch of coffee. Average body and carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden. Decent but not great.

16 oz can from Leo's, December 2023. Pours a thick, spongy tan heads over the usual black body. Nice, lightly warming brandy nose, plus some vanilla and oak. Strong dark beer taste, not quite a stout there: rich roasted malts, a streak of cherry that kind of keeps the bourbon taste to the back. Not a big BBA stout like a Bourbon County, though this does carry the character of the FOur Roses more than the barrel.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours dark brown to black, small tan head. Aroma is wooden, wineous and dark malty. Thick sweet malty, light whisky note. Lingering malty to chocolate with a solid whisky presence.
