bottle from Bierzerg. Deep brown, almost black colour, large beige head. Malty base with hints of dark honey. There is an unusual amount of aromatic hops that add a ovely resiny-herbal character. Very hoppy for a Schwarzbier, without fogetting the malt. There are so many Schwarzbiers that are so dry. This one is very hopps and very malty. The hop profile is d e l i c i o u s! One more, please!

Bottle. Pitch black beer, high, loose head. Thin aroma. Slightly sweet, some malt, little roasted scent. Decent roasted flavor. Rather lightish body, slight hints of cardboard. Rather light on the malt. Light on the hops. Not really that exciting. Decent, but not original at all. Very little finish. Some roasted malt, some hops. Good drinking and decent, but nothing great.

Draught at the brewpub. Very dark brown, small head. Dusty ashy nose. Medium sweet with rounded mouthfeel. Some dark chocolate and dry cocoa bitterness. Less attractive malt character than in their pils and weizen.
