In 1968 The Beatles tried to make an adaptation of the Lord of the Rings but J.R.R. Tolkien denied them the rights. Now, over 50 years later we asked our awesome illustrator @lisa_haney_illustration to re-imagine what that movie couldβve looked like for our English Ale. β
β
Alt End #7 - or The Fab Four go to Mordor - is an ESB brewed with all English malt and fermented with London Ale yeast that was heavily hopped with East Kent Golding. Itβs amber color reflects caramel malt on the palate, and while the style Extra Special Bitter suggests an aggressive bitterness, the style is not as bitter as one would expect. It has floral notes that are brought to life with our expressive house yeast.β
β
This is going to be a great taproom beer that might find its way into a cask next time we brew it, but for now, bring it home, build a fire outside and play some music. After all, all you need is love (and beer). β€οΈπΊβ

On tap at Fraunces Tavern. Pours rubescent copper. Biscuit, berry, cherry, hedgerow, little earthy. Medium body. Fine.

16 oz can from AE, 3/3/22. Canned 2/22/22. Pours a clear caramel-amber color with a beige head and fairly strong lace. Bright and malty. Caramel, earth, and floral flavors. Smooth and very drinkable. Love the idea of this being on cask, if anyone wants my opinion! Tasty stuff.
