Can from AirForceHops, thanks, Chris! Canned 2/1/24, drunk 4/25/24. Clear mahogany with magenta highlights. Large, frothy, well-retained, dark beige head. Stunning nose is bright, not overly specialty malted, with low roasted character and mild hazelnut. Tons of crisp yeast, honey-like base malts and maybe a hint of smoke on the finish. Lush herbs and freshly cut grass from the hops keep it bright and lively. Clean. Super malty with tons of honey-like sweetness, moderate chocolate/cocoa and a peppery, brisk carbonation that needs to be swirled down a bit. Clean, with good yeast character and moderate hops contributing mild bitterness. Maybe just a shade sweeter than I'd like it. Certainly an absolute TON of flavor, especially for its size.

Tap at Prague Beer Fest day 0. Love the balls of these folks, proudly bringing their Czech dark beer to Prague, props! Misty dark brown body, off-white head. Immediate whiff of light corny DMS as I poured it, replaced thankfully soon after by caramelly and dark fruit notes. Chocolate? Nah. A vague vaaague touch of green fruit underneath. Lean, dry taste, caramel, tobacco and grainy notes, ending in a light bitterness. Though the aroma showed subtle imperfect notes, it was quite drinkable - restrained and slightly too polished as American takes on CZ styles tend to be, but a well made dark lager. Better than every single Czech-brewed tmavé in the world as its rating indicates it to be, however, it's not. Enormous respect nonetheless, loved to try it!

Can pour from trade with AirForceHops--thanks, Chris! Virtually opaque dark brown with nice sparkle, decent head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma is strong earthy roasted malt, brown bread. Taste mirrors aroma, late hint of coffee. Smooth, thick texture, average carbonation and finish as taste. Good strength, decent complexity.

16 ounce can from Jenkintown brewery. Garnet colored pour. Frothy beige head is enduring. Sweet roasted malt aroma hints at cocoa and toffee. Flavor follows nose. Nutty, dark toast, caramel, cocoa and buttery Saaz hops. Wonderful.

Half pour is a translucent rootbeer brown with some big, creamy beige head.  Lacey.  Nose has cocoa and toast, light grist and some oat.  Flavors follow.  Creamy finish.  But the flavor is just a pinch watery.  7 4 6 3 13
