The beer is made from no less than four varieties of malt, amongst which amber and caramel malts and two varieties of hops, with a spicy touch of Koriander and rounded off by genuine dark sugar candy for refermentation. Dark ruby in color, it is a strong barley wine.

(bottle, 9% abv, with thanks to Edo!) Hazy, ruby colour with a fluffy beige foamy head. Dusty, sweet toast-malty aroma with cacao, chocolate and light notes of toffee. Sweet flavour, toast-malty taste with dried fruits (raisins) and light notes of caramel; sweet, slightly vinous and spicy finish. Pleasant.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 2 Feb 2007) Dark ruby colour with huge beige head. Malty, fruity nose with dark berries (raspberries, blackberries, black-currant) and fresh notes of coriander. Malty taste with the same berries as in the aroma and with a spicy, juicy, vinous and warming finish with balanced notes of bitterness. Medium to full body. Tasty and warming.

Bottle (Thank You, bierkoning !) Dark amber coloured, small, stable off-white creamy head; big sweet-fruity nose (exotic ripe fruit, e.g. ananas) with a tinge of liquorice; heavy sweet flavour, but not cloying, full-bodied; citrousy notes in the sweet-caramelly finish. Well rounded with well hidden alcohol, a good one..........

Dark brown with red haze, the head was a light brown. Sourish bark that almost smelled burnt. The taste was a similiar burnt taste and was very zingy.

Dark chestnut colour, not quite clear under collapsing dark big head, little carbonation. Rich alcohol and higher alcohols nose, malts (coloured and others), some wood, and aroma’s of vanilla, fruit as apricot or dried figs. Vanilla, caramel and even toffee, fruit cake with syrup, fruit toffees (some sweet orange). Alcohol is very much hidden, but warm, rich and near velvety MF makes this complex, even if to the very sweet side. I like this, as I do most Scheldebrouwerij products.

Bottle. Amber in colour, with white head. Some raisins and prunes in the aroma. For a 9% ABV it’s quite easy-drinkable, even though there are some warming alcohol-taste. Fruity, but not much malt. Complex beer with lots of tastes from the first sip to the end. Thx to KØLF. (050923)

Bottled at RBESG. Nut brown, nera no head. Sweet, somewhat syprupy and raisiny. Near full bodied with loads of caramelly malt and butterscotch. Light salty finish. Rich and intriguing.
