We used massive amounts of robusta coffee beans – known for their full-bodied and distinctive earthy flavour – in our very bourbon-forward imperial stout base which had spent 14 months in oak. The result is smooth and staightforward yet refined and complex.

Pours clear, very dark brown to black. No real head. Scent is sweet, coffee, roasted malts, barrel, some chocolate. Taste is quite boozy, sharp, bourbon, milder coffee that does build up. Crunchy, bit herbal notes. Not bad at all. Thick body, lower carbo. Lovely.

Bottle picked up from Beer Republic, nr Breda Netherlands and consumed at home in the company of Dad and Pauline Thursday 25th May 2023 listening to Tom Robinson on 6Music standing in for Marc Riley, we had Lasagna for tea tonight. Pours pitch black with a rapidly disappearing head, there is oodles of coffee and a huge bourbon hit. It's sticky, sweet but very more'ish, having said that it's a great beer and a good beer for sharing.

MBCC. Black with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, roaste dmalt, chocolate, heavy cocoa, coffee and bourbon. Flavor is very sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish with warming alcohol. Oily and soft. 060523

Tap. Black color with beige head. Aroma is big coffee, vanilla and caramel syrup, super aromatic. Taste is coffee, bourbon, super tasty, warming booze finish. Sticky oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Good one!
