Tennent’s is more than just a great lager– it is a national treasure. As a product, it has always been known for being a great pint - dating back to its long history from 135 years ago when Hugh Tennent brought the recipe back from Bavaria.

12 ounce bottle from Farm Fresh inVirginia Beach, VA. Pours a clear golden color with a medium head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma is sweet malts, corn and faint skunk. Taste is acrid and dirty malts with corn and spam notes. Some hop bitterness in the finish. Thin bodied. Not good.

Bottle. Pours a pale golden with a small white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is a skunky wheat grass and corn malt. Decent spotty lacing along the glass. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet corn malt taste. Not too much going on with this one.

On tap at “The Royal British Hotel”, Edinburgh 11 Nov 08. Pale golden colored. A small creamy head. Some lacing on the glass. Modest metallic aroma. Watery flavor with malty hints. OK as a thirst quencher – otherwise dull. Carbonated.

Typical European lager, light malts, touch of grass, water. Flavor is watery malts, light touch of hops. Inoffensive and just fine for the masses.

Left over 500ml can found in the fridge where I stayed in St Andrews. “Empty it” was the message. Pours a golden body topped by an one-finger, white head leaving fragile laceworks on the glass. This is a pale lager with little aroma and taste. Some lemony hints can be spotted with a bit a harsh acid flavoured water. Watery in the mouth. Little more than brief notes of refreshments [07.11.2008].

From tap at Guildfort Arms. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Classic light cornish and mild hoppy aroma. Flavour is cornish and slight acidic to bitter. Bitter and mild spiced hoppy finish.simple and somewhat related to the brew called international pale lager. A bit sad.
