(Botle 33 cl) Beautifully amber coloured beer with a pretty, tall and very dense head which unfortunately does collaps. Very full-bodied and malty - almost reminiscent of an abbey dubbel. Refined hoppy finish. Comes rather close to the same brewery’s "Oud Zottegems". 110798

Bottle. Hint of white wine in the aroma. Amber colour, small head. Malty bonbon flavour. A little watery for its ABV. (Rumoured to be 8% as opposed to the 6.5).

(Sample from 1995) Thick snow-white head, dense but irregular; pale orange amber, slight haze. Leafy nose, bit of maltsugars. Oxydised, walnuts taste. Slight, but quite nice little metallic tang at the finish - not harsh. Medium-bodied, slightly slick mouthfeel. Oxidation gets more outspoken warming up. A nice beer, with a very old recipe. Another victim of the breezer generation that allows HACCP rules to terrorise Zottegem and other rural places of wisdom.

I drank an old version of 2000. But this one was definitely too old in my opinion. Clear yellow color, medium frothy head. Aroma is very acidic and vinegar, vinous. I guess it was a bad bottle, or just probably not age-able.
