"Himmel, welch ein Bier!" urteilte bereits Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts der Dichter Jean Paul über das köstliche, fränkische Braunbier. Ganz in dieser Tradition lassen wir das Schinner Braunbier mit feinem Aromahopfen und einheimischem Gerstenmalz brauen - kräftig und vollmundig im Trunk!

On tap at Berliner Bierfestival. The other rating is done at home, with fewer previous beers, and since the newer rating is lower, I let the old one stand. It was served with a clear, copper body, and a beige head. Quite malty nose, with some hints of vegetables that I didn’t order. The same goes for the flavor, where some corn are present. I’m not fond of corn. It can be nice once in a while, to have a BBQ-ed corncob with butter and salt, but that’s enough for me. I don’t need it in salads or on burgers, and I certainly don’t need it in my beer. The mouthfeel is medium. Except for the vegetables it is a quite pleasant beer, still a bit boring. 4-4-4-3-9-2.4. Bottled as Altbayreuther Braunbier. Clear, copper-colored with a beige head. Weak but pleasant aroma of malt and caramel. Caramel, malt and some hops in the flavor. Medium body. A bit boring but not bad. (060929)

(swing top bottle) Clear, dark amber to copper colour with a fluffy and quite persistent foamy beige head. Dusty, sweet malty, slightly toasty aroma with faint notes of dried fruits and a herbal hoppy touch; also shy notes of metal when its freshly poured. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Softly toasted malty body with light hoppy notes and a shy fruity background. Moderately dry, malty, bitter and herbal hoppy finish. Rather light but somewhat tasty, thus sessionable Dunkel.

500 ml swingtop bottle, under its alias "Das Echte Altbayreuther Braunbier", bought at KaDeWe, Berlin. Reddish brown colour, large and lasting off-white head. Rye bread / bakery aroma, notes of lightly roasted malts and caramel too. Mouthfeel is surprisingly watery, flavour is rather bland and bready, lightly roasted malts with minimal hops. Slightly sourish finish. By all means a drinkable beer, but I expected more flavour than this.

Bottle. Quite malty, a little yeasty aroma. Clear brown colour, sparkling. Small, big-bubbled head. Malty, slightly roasted flavour. Quite high carbonation. Aftertaste is just bitter. Flavour starts off nice, but unfortunately fades away after a few sips.
