"Himmel, welch ein Bier!" urteilte bereits Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts der Dichter Jean Paul über das köstliche, fränkische Braunbier. Ganz in dieser Tradition lassen wir das Schinner Braunbier mit feinem Aromahopfen und einheimischem Gerstenmalz brauen - kräftig und vollmundig im Trunk!

Huge, seemingly everlasting head. Mahogany brown body. Aroma faintly sourish (uh?) with hop notes. Taste is subtle, harmonic, and well-rounded, although not too strong. Aftertaste just fades with teasing bitterness notes that last surprisingly long. Reminiscent of many of the Franconian dark lagers I’ve had, but distinctive, and yet not so interesting. In the typically German way the taste grows stronger as you drink. (On tap at Schinner.)

(Bottle 50 cl) Comes as "Altbayreuther Braunbier - Das Echte". Dark amber - slightly hazy - with a small, creamy head. A touch of metal in the nose. Weird underlying slight tartness. Lightly burned malt character with a pronounced dry, lightly bitter finish. Not very full-bodied - actually a bit watery. Very unusual and atypical German beer. And not really your typical Dunkel. 230605

Sampled draught at Berliner Bier-Festival.
Orange-brown with vague cellary aroma. Clean and rather dry with some salt and medium bitterness.
