Bayerische Anstich at Zum Franziskaner. Golden with a white head. Malt, grass, bread and some metallic notes.

Tap at the brewery. Aroma had pale malt, faint grassy hops and biscuit. Over the palate came grassy hops, chewy malt and bread. Medium minus bitterness and dry.

Malty aroma and taste. Barnyard. Herbal, hopbitter taste. Bitter, soapy finish, full bodied for a pilsener. The soapyness is strong, therefore the beer is not well balanced and a bit disappointing.

Das Pils vom Mager, vom Faß im Brauereigasthof in Pottenstein. - Satt goldgelb, klar. - In der Nase aromatisch kräuteriger Hopfen. - Antrunk zart hellmalzig mit charakteristischer, kräuteriger Hopfung. Gut rezent, etwas dünn. Im Abgang nur milde Hopfenherbe. - Ein süddeutsches Pilsener, das statt kerniger Herbe milde aber ausgeprägte Hopfenaromen bei milder Restsüße bietet, aber etwas blaß daherkommt. (24.7.2018: 3,0.) Bei Wiederholung aus der Flasche (von Schmitt's Allerlei, Pottenstein) kerniger und aromatischer als ich es in Erinnerung hatte. Tiefe Malzigkeit, gut abgelagert, kräftig bittere herbal-krautige Hopfung. - Erstklassig, wie überhaupt alle Biere vom Mager. (21.8.2021: 3,4.)

Clear pale golden colour, average frothy white head, diminishing slowly, good lacing. Aroma malt, grain, grass. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, grainy, grassy, touch of sugar. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, mild sweetbitter aftertaste, malty notes at the end, decent pilsner.

50cl bottle from the brewpub. Pours clear pale golden colour with a mid-sized white head. aroma of grassy floral hops, grain. Taste of floral hops, grassy, mild bitterness, very good!

a) Sehr schönes dunkelgelbes Bier. Geruch süßlich-hopfig. Im Antrunk süßlich-herb. Die Herbe verfliegt allerdings auch relativ schnell, so dass im Mund ein süßlich-süffiger Geschmack mit leichter Hopfennote zurückbleibt.
--> Typisches fränkisches Pils.

b) Leicht-herb, etwas süßlich-wässrig, im Nachgeschmack eine etwas herbere Note zu Tage tretend. Interessantes, angenehmes Bier...Dabei doch etwas malzig.

Smooth and dry hoppy flavor. Medium bodied. Grass and grain. Pleasant and quaffable.
