Our 2023 Vintage Ale combines the best of traditional tastes with new hop varieties to deliver this year's own distinct character. Pale Ale malt is at the heart for delicate sweetness, combined with DRC®, a Double Roasted Crystal malt, to provide deeper toffee and raisin tones. Once more we highlight modern English hops, using Opus, Archer, and CF185 to provide peach accents and a pronounced citrus note, underpinned by the zesty marmalade character of our famous Fuller's yeast.

Bottle from Waitrose. Pours clear golden amber with a thin white head. Aromas of mixed peel and caramel. Taste adds a spicy note. Light bitter finish. Warming.

Bottle No. 95090. Pours a clear coppery colour with an average sized, diminishing, creamy beige head. Aroma is fruity, raisins, apple, lime, malt loaf, and sweet spices. A moderately sweetish, malty taste, malt loaf, figs, caramel, date, raisins, plum, lime, red berries, and sweet spice flavours with a warming bittersweet malty and spicy finish.

Flaska #65908
Bärnstensfärgad med liten men tät skumkrona. Doft av kola, russin, våt färg och färsk sågspån. Smakar kola, torkad frukt, farin och alkohol. Helt ok, men blir nog bättre med tiden.

I prefer this year’s release as last year. Malty, fruity, strong, raisins. Again, a nutty Compté is my cheese of choice to pair with this one.

Bottle as part of the black Friday party box. This is bottle #69507. It pours deep red brown with a thick yellowy beige head. The aroma is rich and intoxicating, peach ice tea, fig, dried fruits, vanilla, marzipan, ambergris custard, pie crust, marshmallow, fruit cake, toasty grain, varnished wood, festive spice, touch of cacao and brown bread. The taste is firmly dry, bitter snap, bitter - sweet character, toothy, toasty brown bread, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, fruit cake, custard, marzipan, peach, plum, figgy pudding, vanilla, cake frosting, resin, wood and just a nip of booze with a dry, slightly tannic finish. Fulsome body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Incredibly unique flavour profile and depth. Really stands out from the other fresh vintages. Very impressive.

Bottle no. 17876. From Waitrose drunk at home. Slight haze deep russet colour lasting beige head. Compared with 2020 and 2021 before this is young. Will buy another to keep for 2 years. Malty. Sherbet hop. It needs to settle down. Will improve over time. So I will score now but buy another bottle and re rate in a few years time Hoppy with hedgerow flavours. Hawthorn black currant. Some berry. Spiced oranges. Good fresh flavours. Fresh jammy fruits. Not quite the malt. But some fun. Yep OK. Will see how it ages

Taste is sweetish, malty, grains, bread, toffee, fig, citrus, hint of stone fruit and tangy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying fruity bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Archer, Plus and CF185 hops. Clear deep amber beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry, good fine carbonation. The malts feel light and semi dry, nice combo of thin creamy sweetness and crisp bitterish toffee. The trio of English hops are just sublime. Orchard fruits, ripe apple and pear, some ripe plum. Light pine. Some Archer lime. I know 2 things about CF185, and one of them is fuck all! Seems to bring rich ripe red and black berries and a touch of apricot jam. More dark toffee on the finish. Just a sublime medley of flavours. Stunning.
