Our 2023 Vintage Ale combines the best of traditional tastes with new hop varieties to deliver this year's own distinct character. Pale Ale malt is at the heart for delicate sweetness, combined with DRC®, a Double Roasted Crystal malt, to provide deeper toffee and raisin tones. Once more we highlight modern English hops, using Opus, Archer, and CF185 to provide peach accents and a pronounced citrus note, underpinned by the zesty marmalade character of our famous Fuller's yeast.

Bottle at home, thanks to Fergus for picking up, 22/10/23. Bottle #66023. Clear copper to light chestnut brown with a good sized lasting egg shell white cap. Nose is dates, spice, brown bread, malt loaf, herb, toffee, figs. Taste comprises fruit cake mix, caramel, dates, toffee, airy malts, Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent for a fresh Vintage but not as good as last years ... will sit on the other bottles a year and more.

500 ml bottle in cardboard box, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 8.5%. Hops are Opus, Archer and CF185. Clear copper to amber colour, large off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, toffee and peach candy. The flavour has the same elements, also notes of caramelised marmalade, and decent bittering hops in the finish. Good beer, but not the very best vintage in this series. The mouthfeel is a bit fizzy, might profit from a year or two in the cellar.

Cask at Fullers Brewery, Chiswick, London. A dark ruby amber/brown coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Sweet, orange marmalade, caramel, dark fruit aroma and taste. Very nice as usual but quite sweet. Delicious and super fresh on cask at this lovely old brewery by the Thames in W4.
