This beer was crafted for those who adore both pain and pleasure (but mostly pain), those who should know better and those who don't know better. It is the result of what many beer enthusiasts would consider a most egregious crime—sequestering Arrogant Bastard Ale, Double Bastard Ale and OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale in Kentucky bourbon barrels, then blending them together with jalapeño, serrano, and other chile peppers. The result is something unsuitable for the faint of heart, mind or palate. Still confident you can handle this? Very well, but be forewarned: You're playing with fire...be prepared for the consequences.
Crime was first concocted in 2010, when Stone CEO Greg Koch decided to ruin a beautiful barrel full of Lukcy Basartd Ale by dumping a variety of chile peppers from his backyard garden into the beer. This year’s version is still very hoppy in spite of the barrel aging, with lots of oak and malt. The long finish reveals layers of oak, vanilla, bourbon and malt that synergistically combine to produce complex caramel flavors, with peppers adding pleasant tamarind, subtle tropical flavors and significant heat.

500ml C&C: Cracked this open after hot wings… it smells hot. Dirty pepper hot. I can honestly smell chili peppers ahead of the smoke and barrel. Pungent and moderately offensive. Beautiful shade of amber and a creamy tan head. Thick, sticky lacing. It looks great and all, but with this wicked hot aroma I don’t really want to drink it… but I do. The taste is just like the aroma suggests and instantly burns my lips and the back of my throat. Chili pepper flavor is evident, smoke, ash, and wood. It’s hot. Oppressively hot. Three sips in and I want to quit. Why the f#*k did I open this? Worse yet, why the f#*k did I spend $18 on this? Expectations were moderate here, as Stone is one of my longtime favorites… they missed it here. I could appreciate the Ghost Face Killah, but this is just brutal… four sips and I’m done. Wow. Major league drain pour… seriously, I’m considering throwing this glass away now.

I am not a chili pepper fan, but this offering really intrigued me. I shared this bomber at a party so that if I didn’t like it, I would not drain pour a whole bomber. Five of us tried it. Two sipped and said "no mas." Two others enjoyed it’s uniqueness along with a snack spread that included nacho chips, guacamole, salsa, etc. Aroma: hot chili pepper. Taste: the initial sip seared the taste buds, but I enjoyed it otherwise. If it were not overpriced at $20/bomber, I would buy another bottle.

Bottle. Woody, green chili, sweet brown sugar aroma. Hazy amber, no head. Intense chili burn which overpowers flavor except a slight earthiness. Medium body, soft/flat carbonation. I’m a bit of a capsacin addict and enjoyed the heat, but this beer is simply unbalanced, and for me was nothing more than a novelty.

A hazed amber ale with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, loads of hot pepper, vinegar, and biscuit malt. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with lingering pepper burn, caramel, habanero peppers, in your face pepper mind fck, burning the throat. On tap at End of Everything beer fest, Dec 22 2013.

Bottle: Pours red-amber with a small tan head. Aroma is green pepper, caramel....mild sweet and spice.....and then..... The first few seconds are a pleasantly peppered Lukcy Basterd Ale....then you get punched in the head. A severely escalating sequence of chilis assaults you. You can honestly picture the Scoville scale leaping into the red....you can’t actually SEE it....because your eyes are watering. It’s rather brutal, and impossible to drink more than a few ounces at a time...But it has to get props for the sheer shock factor it delivers. Impressive.

Bottle. Green/jalapeno pepper and orange malt aroma. Amber with small head. Initial flavor is a sweet green pepper flavor with transitions first to a mild Jalapeno burn but the burn continues to build. Burn lingers. Extremely well made but don’t want much of this.

Pours a light reddish brown color with a decent sized off white head that quickly dissipates to wisps of foam on top. Aromas of earthy spicy hot peppers and little else. The flavor is pure heat, its like drinking lava and it sticks around forever. Medium body with a light level of carbonation and a burning spicy mouthfeel. I love spicy food, but this beer is just insanely hot. There is no enjoying this as a beverage, maybe as a marinade.

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Pancake head with good retention recedes leaving scant lacing. Jalapeno, habanero and scotch bonnet aromas. Thick with sweet caramel, oak and vanilla upfront turning to a burning roasted hot pepper and bourbon finish... I’m a hot head and it really is quite warming - hard to imagine how the whole bottle is going to go down...

Bereits pfeffriger Antrunk mit würzigen Noten. Der Pfeffer wird stärker und brennt für den nicht an Schärfe gewohnten Gaumen, pikant, für mich gelungen. Unsüffig aber gut! 6/12/6/12//12
