This beer was crafted for those who adore both pain and pleasure (but mostly pain), those who should know better and those who don't know better. It is the result of what many beer enthusiasts would consider a most egregious crime—sequestering Arrogant Bastard Ale, Double Bastard Ale and OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale in Kentucky bourbon barrels, then blending them together with jalapeño, serrano, and other chile peppers. The result is something unsuitable for the faint of heart, mind or palate. Still confident you can handle this? Very well, but be forewarned: You're playing with fire...be prepared for the consequences.

Crime was first concocted in 2010, when Stone CEO Greg Koch decided to ruin a beautiful barrel full of Lukcy Basartd Ale by dumping a variety of chile peppers from his backyard garden into the beer. This year’s version is still very hoppy in spite of the barrel aging, with lots of oak and malt. The long finish reveals layers of oak, vanilla, bourbon and malt that synergistically combine to produce complex caramel flavors, with peppers adding pleasant tamarind, subtle tropical flavors and significant heat.

Draught @ Moeder Lambic during the Stone vs Moeder Lambic event. Amber to red colour with a small white head. SMells bitter, hoppy and grapefruits. Tastes like peppers and hops. Okay carbo, flaming hot body. I don’t like beer with peppers.

Draught at Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas during the three day Stone Event, 16-18 september 2011. Nice red color, but that’s about all that’s good about it. Those spices are too much for me. Way too much pepper!

Draught at Moeder Lambic, Brussels, for the Stone beer festival. Sampled on September 16, 2011Hazy cherry wood color, small tan head. Sweet, malty, spicy, white pepper scent. Sweet at first, quickly turns to spicy hot chili, not really burning but most definately warming. White pepper aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, hard to tell bitterness with all those spices but feels sort of to the high side. I like it, but be aware that it will fuck up your taste buds for a while to come. Spicyness of it does not go away evern minutes after tasting! Warms and burns your stomach.

Draft @ Stone vs. Moeder event, Moder Lambic, Brussels. Are you worthy enough for this beer?

draft@Stone vs. Moeder: deep amber-red with little to no head, smells like sweet American hops mixed with some peppers, taste is bitter grapefruit hops first followed very spicy, chilli peppers, the heat just keeps intensifying, gravitating toward sambal taste wise & you can just feel it burn in your throat, hard to drink a whole glass of this, the spiciness is great & I love it because it is so ridiculously over the top in terms of spiciness for a beer

Draught Deep amber-red, with little head. Immediate onslaught of red peppers and "some" hops. Very spicy, hot red peppers, and little else. Burning MF, fiery as few. Medium bodied. Too much peppers for balance, nothing else emerges, despite undertones of what might well have been a good beer.

On tap a Stone’s Oakquinox. Pours with a medium clear bronze body with no head. Aromas of pepper, serrano, thai chili peppers, citrus hops, light oak, caramel. Dry. Flavors of black pepper, chili peppers, spicy, vegital and bitter. Minimum carbonation and some heat.

Sampled from the tap at the NotB. Poured a near clear deep amber with a brown hue and a yellowish brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a lot of peppers and spice with a bit of backing pine hopiness. Flavor started with pine and was joined by a somewhat restrained pepper note. Still question the drink-ability, but nice in a sample.
