(Draught at Het Lagerhuys, Amsterdam, 15 Feb 2023) Dark brown colour with creamy, tan head. Malty nose with caramel, dried fruit, raisins, prunes, oak wood, calvados and a touch of mint. Malty taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, raisins, calvados, green apples, mint and a mild spicy bitterness in a vinous and warming finish. Full body, quite sweet. Quite powerful, with a rich wood character. Still in good balance. Very nice.

On tap at Het Lagerhuys, pours a deep dark orangey brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out butterscotch, apple brandy, and Belgian yeast. Flavour is pretty hot, with apple brandy, booze, butterscotch, and light esters. Not especially recognizable as a quad, but the cognac barrels characterize this. Nice stuff.

Tap at Arendsnest, 19th April 2023. Pours a brown sticky beer. Aroma is dark fruits, sugar and apples. Taste is sweet, soft, slightly sickly, the calvados and barrels are there, doesn’t do it for me though

Proefglas bij In de Wildeman, dank Simon! Donkerbruin, beige kraag. Rozijntjes, krenten, snoepjes, lijkt best wat op een La Trappe Quad OA variant en dat is een compliment, zoet, moutig, vol, eikenhout, zoete appeltjes, bittere finish. Volle body.

On tap. Pours a dark brown with little head. Aromas of candi sugar, soft boozy oak, dark fruit and bready malts. Flavors follow same with additional chocolate malts and dry woody calvados. Nice

0.33 l bottle from 'SpeciaalBierPakket.nl', 2022 vintage, bottled in October 2022. Clear, dark ruby with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, quite fruity, gently yeasty and a bit boozy aroma of calvados, raisins, figs, blackberry, marzipan and some wood. Fairly sweet, malty, gently yeasty, rather fruity and a little spicy taste of molasses, raisins, figs, calvados, marzipan, red wine, licorice root, juniper and some wood, followed by a long, moderately bitter, gently boozy and a little woody finish. Medium to full body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Fairly complex beer, pleasant influence from the barrel, even slightly spicy. Good!
