Bottle. Color: Dark copper, beige head. Aroma: Caramel malt, raisins, fruity Calvados. Taste: Fruity Calvados (apple), raisins, caramel, malty, butterscotch, some almond and wood. Over moderate sweet, light bitterness. Just over medium body, below average carbonation. Bit boozy, warming mouthfeel at the finish. Nice slow sipper.

Drunk after finishing the cabinet for the M-Plex, at the end of a long day. Enjoyed with my home grown raspberries in tart form. Dark brown, biscuit nose, hint of raisins and fruit. Very smooth, chewy plummy jammy goodness, just a hint of brandy. Excellent smooth, mildly rich flavor.

Bottle at home shared with Joen and Laura. Brownish color, red hue, off-white head. Smell and taste malts, liquor, brown candy sugar notes, boozy finish. Quite alright though.

Leicht süßer und apfeliger Beginn, der Calvados ist gut erkennbar. Würzig, leicht ansteigende Süße, holzig, wenig röstig. Intensiv, weiter nach Apfel, langer Abgang und Nachgeschmack. 10/11/10/11/11/1

Clear orange brown beer with a beige lacing. Aroma of strong Apple brandy, wood, raisins, mild sourness. Taste of strong caramelized dark malt, apples, spirits, wood. Boozy finish.
Smooth soft woody calvados, mild fruity. Slightly bitter roasted with a very soft body. Deep woody fruity calvados finish. Great combination and well balanced.

Quadrupel by still independent Gulpener in the southern Netherlands, thanks Hinke for sharing! Frothy and moussy, pale yellowish beige, bit irregular head on a misty deep bronze-caramel brown beer with copper-red glow. Aroma of hard caramel, indeed noticeable apple brandy, toffee, vanilla-scenting oak wood, sirop de Liège, almond, butterscotch, hazelnut, ripe pear, brown bread, white port. Sweet onset, candied dates and yellow raisins, vague sourish blackberry undertone, moderately carbonated with rounded mouthfeel; caramelly, lightly hazelnutty and brown-bready malts sprinkled with brown (candi) sugar, gradually warmed by the calvados, the flavour of which is recognisable enough. Vanilla-exuding oak wood adds a bit of dryness along with the alcohol, and with a dash of leafy hops – but the overall flavour remains predominantly sweet. In its base, this is a rather straightforward quad for the masses, but the calvados has admittedly treated it well and fits in neatly – in all, very decent, but not quite the average quality level of other barrel aged quadruple series (like Straffe Hendrik Heritage or La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged). Ideal beer for cellaring too, I reckon.

Clear chestnut colour, moderate sized creamy beige-ish head; aroma and taste of apricot, dried cherry, nutmeg, cocoa powder and some burnt sugary notes; good one
