MAR-2019. Almost black (without being murky), nice mocha head. The aroma is not very strong - roasted / burnt, almost smoking grains and grass, with a distant hint of dark cooking chocolate. The tatse is rather intense for an Irish stout, and that is without being malt / sugar driven. Really dark bitter chcolate, enough hop bitterness, and a just a touch of dark sugars for balance. Moderate lingering bitterness. Appropriate low carbonation. As good as simple dry stouts get. 6-4-7-4-15=3,6.

MAR-2018. PET growler from the brewery. Opaque dark brown, almost black, decent tan head. Roasty toasty aroma, a hint of dark fruit and burnt sugars - Ok. The taste is dry and roasty, some red wine tannins, you get a hint of dark sugars if you really try. Firm dry bitterness. Simple, nice and clean. 6-4-6-4-14=3,4.
