Keg at Beer Hawk, Southwark, London. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Rich malty, coffee, nutty aroma. Tastes rich, malty, coffee, hazlenut, quite sweet. Enjoyable porter from Wylam.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque black with a tiny, beige film of a head. Nose is almost more hazelnut than coffee. Rich, malty body. Sweet, but luckily not as sweet as you could have expected in this time of sugarbomb Stouts. Again a distinct and very pleasant hazelnut note - I wonder how they achieved that. Jesus, the label doesn't reveal any ingredients - at all! Odd - and illegal. I kinda like the fact that the coffee is very downplayed. Only in the finish is there an ashy, rough note. No real bitterness at all. 280219

(Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 25 Aug 2018) Black colour with frothy, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with generous notes of fresh coffee, roasted grain and nuts. Malty, roasted taste with black coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice, hazelnuts and a balanced coffee bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Really tasty, with lots of fresh coffee, almost overshadowing the nuts and other flavours. Nice one.
