Aged in whisky casks from the Isle of Islay off the Scottish coast, the latest of the Paradox Series provides a hugely complex, full bodied BA Imperial Stout.
This powerful stout delivers hints of floral, alongside intense, smoky and peated notes of single malt. Giving a lasting rich, malty, espresso and dark chocolate character, balanced by the spicy hops of Saaz. This is a stout that warms the senses.
The 2019 edition is 14% ABV, 55 IBU, 112 OG. Malts: Cara, Flaked Oats, Pale, Extra Dark Crystal, Weyermann Carafa Types1/3. Hops:Columbus, Hallertauer Mittelfrüh, Saaz

Bottle. Black body with an impressive thick tan head for the beer’s ABV and age. No visible carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of museum, oak and soft whisky notes. Flavour of cigar, whisky burn and a boozy finish. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. The whisky flavour is a bit too intense for me to love it. I couldn’t finish the bottle, but I was glad to have tried it.

0,33l bottle shared by a friend @ Piispansilta. Pours very dark brown with a low tan head. Aroma is sweet roasted malts with peaty smoke. Flavor is sweet roasted malts, alcohol, whisky, peated smoke, hops, some ashtray in the finish. Good, but probably past it's prime.

Bottle from BrewDog online store Massive peated joy. Smoked plus peated character on a nose. But BA origins will truly show up on a tongue. Peated, coffee notes. Whisky, warming alcohol, and more peated flavors. Great winter sipper.

330ml bottle. Heavy, peaty and sweetish with some roastiness, loads of Islay whisky peatiness, oak and stingy wood. Quite intense.

330ml bottle. Pours jet black with a small head. Aroma is meaty, peaty liquorice and chocolate. Taste has light peat to start. Strong meaty, peaty coffee finish with vegetal chocolate on the aftertaste, which lets it down it slightly.
