Bourbon Barrel-Aged Stout

A living room filled by the warmth of a fire, a table packed with food, the cushions of a comfy couch—there are so many great spots to gather. And we have a rich, bourbon barrel-aged stout to pair with all of them. Gatherwell is a full-bodied and, dare we say, decadent stout aged in bourbon barrels for notes of cocoa, vanilla, oak, and a hint of bourbon.

Panda thanks to Cloin. Alagash, there is a blast from the past! Glad to see they are still around. Near clear dark brown beer, good bubbly pale tan head. Airy smooth palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Soft if slightly thin dark malts, a little dark malt cream and modest soft dark chocolate. A fair showing of slightly earthy coffee. The bourbon barrel is fruity and ripe, just a touch of oak induced vanilla. Smooth and coffee malt finish, touch of alcohol spice. Intriguing brew, like a bba coffee Impy but somehow, most of the sweetness has been forensically removed. Took awhile to get used to but when that adjustment was complete, I liked it a lot.

Bottle. Dark brown with a small off-white head. Roasted malts, burnt notes, dark dried fruit and alcohol in the aroma. Full-bodied, warming and nicely carbonated, semi-sweet. Roasted malts flavor with dark dried fruit, booze, vanilla and some chocolate. Lasting finish. Pleasant indeed. 250307

Not bad but not particularly flavoursome considering it's a strong barrel aged stout. Quite thin too

355ml bottle. Pours jet black with a large head. Aroma is strong bourbon, touch of mint and liquorice. Taste has oily liquorice throughout with a little mint watery bourbon on the finish.

Black with a small tan head that faded. Doughy with sharp whiskey and a hint of anise. Lacking depth. Long finish. Moderately full bodied.

Very nice, honest barrel aged stout. Roast and light bourbon, but very well balanced. Some coffee. Slick mouth feel. Bittersweet finish with light booze. Light caramel. Bottle.
